Some of our Achievements
During the last five years of hard work, CPAS through the funding from
SAEASREP and joint effort with Indonesian Centre for Archaeological Research
and Development have been working together in one systematic research in Prehistory
and Austronesia subject at Kalumpang (West Celebes), Passo (North Celebes), and
Southern Sumatera, Sangiran (Central Java), Ngawi (East Java) and Halmahera
(North Moluccas, eastern Indonesia). The results of those research mentioned
above were succeed to provide us an alternative answer and more better
knowledge on the emergence, dispersal and development of Autronesian people and
their culture, especially in Sumatra and Celebes. Prehistorical research we
conducted at Ngawi and Sangiran lead us to discover undoubtedly human remains
from Kabuh layers which have been dated back to middle Pleistocene period. This
remains were found together with flakes and fossil of fauna which also enrich
our knowledge about prehistoric technology and environmental issue.
