Some of our Achievements

During the last five years of hard work, CPAS through the funding from SAEASREP and joint effort with Indonesian Centre for Archaeological Research and Development have been working together in one systematic research in Prehistory and Austronesia subject at Kalumpang (West Celebes), Passo (North Celebes), and Southern Sumatera, Sangiran (Central Java), Ngawi (East Java) and Halmahera (North Moluccas, eastern Indonesia). The results of those research mentioned above were succeed to provide us an alternative answer and more better knowledge on the emergence, dispersal and development of Autronesian people and their culture, especially in Sumatra and Celebes. Prehistorical research we conducted at Ngawi and Sangiran lead us to discover undoubtedly human remains from Kabuh layers which have been dated back to middle Pleistocene period. This remains were found together with flakes and fossil of fauna which also enrich our knowledge about prehistoric technology and environmental issue.

  • Guest professor to Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University at Taipei, and also National Museum of Prehistory in Taitung, Taiwan (2008).
  • Attending international seminar of East Asian Palaeolithic at Seoul, Korea (2008)
  • Attending international seminar about "The peopling of Eurasia" in Paris, France (2008)
  • Giving lecture and actively as a member of board of examiners in Erasmus Mundus Master's program, Paris, France (2008).
